Hello, everyone. I'm a old member that just remembered what a great place this is to find creative and interesting people to toss ideas around with. I'm not sure how long it has been since I've been around here.

Hi, people. My name is Jon.

I'm a long time lurker on the CBG (like, four or five years long). I found it originally through The Cartographer's Guild, and now I've finally got a proper account to post and write and stuff.

I'm from Brisbane, Australia, but now I live with my girlfriend on the Gold Coast, and I work in Aged Care. I've been writing fiction since I was a kid, and only in the past five years or so have I begun to stop deluding myself into thinking it could be a career. I'm happier for it to be a hobby anyway, since I hate deadlines.

I've also always been into D&D and tabletop as an idea, but its only been in those past few years that I really started to find people who I could play with.

Now, I'm a huge fan of Dungeon World, and I'm really getting some work done on what probably amounts to my thousandth setting. But this is a setting I'd really like to put the hard yards into finishing.

Hi everyone, my name is Yodra :)

Gaming History

I have pretty much no experience with tabletop rpgs, other than reading a lot about them. I enjoy studying game design, learning about game worlds and mechanics, and watching others play video games.

Likes and Dislikes

I like parrots, art, worldbuilding, rationality, and stories of all kinds.
I dislike intolerance, plot holes, substance abuse, and boredom.

Strengths and Weaknesses

I think I'm fairly good at macro worldbuilding. I'm also pretty good at producing alien modes of thought.
I don't really understand what makes one mechanic more fun than another, and I usually don't really know what I'm doing.

Major Influences

Zoology, physics, social psychology, Terry Pratchet, Darths and Droids, and Nighzmarquls.

Welcome Yodra!

Always good to have another member.

We do occasionally play actual games here, so if you're interested in trying one out there are sometimes opportunities. It's not the same thing as playing round a table, but it has some perks as well as drawbacks.

and watching others play video games.

My soul mate! I haven't really met anyone else who appreciates the voyeuristic pleasures of living vicariously through my friends who are exceptionally better at games than me. I can't help the fact that I will never be a decent League of Legends, Bloodborne, or Overwatch player, but I can at least pretend I am when I watch them play. I don't know why I enjoy it so much, but at least they don't mind the one man audience.

Also, welcome! You should totally hop into one of the games running around here (Steerpike runs a game called Fimbulvinter that is supposedly very good). There's also a fair amount of one-shots that crop up every now and then. There's also the opportunity for Play-by-Posts, though I don't think we have any running right now...
