No one wants to have to buy saves, skills, hit points, or other mundane numerics. Let them pay whatever to decide what their HD size, skill progs, and save progs are at first level. More convenient.

ctually, that is one of the points.  To be able to completely customize my character.  To be able to sacrifice any aspect in favor of the flavor I want.

So, for classless we have me, Cymro, Phoenix, Beejazz. For classes we have Xeviat. For levelless we have Cymro. For levels we have me, Phoenix, Beejazz, Xeviat.

Uh, I believe strongly in leveless and classless.  As a side, I think levels are pointless without classes in which you have levels in.

The very saving throw mechanic is an outgrowth of levels.  It would be unnecessary in a game that did not scale so dramatically.  Need to make a Will save?  Roll Willpower.  As you gain experience, you can choose to raise WP like any other stat.  Since "save DC" of spells will not go up quite so much, saves don't have to either.

Also, having BAB, saves, etc. determined by levels with no classes mean all characters will be the same.

One thing you really need to consider here, is are you planning to make this point-buy d20?  It sounds like it, rather than a new game.  Otherwise, why keep concepts like BAB, saves, and so forth.  Best to start from scratch then decide if something needs to be imported because it was the best way of doing things.

Okay. Classless = Me, Cymro, Phoenix, Beejazz, with Xeviat against it (for classes).

Leveless = Phoenix and Cymro, against we have me, Beejazz, and Xeviat.

Classless and Level-less, there's my vote.

Another thing we should worry about is whether we even want to keep the arcane/divine magic divide.  I persoanlly think that should be purely a flavor distinction.

Seconded.  Whether a priest(profession) slings spells should depend on whether or not the player chose that as an aspect for their character.  Maybe he is just a crusading meatshield type priest with ranks in rabblerousing.

That's exactly what I said, Phoenix. I say we should ditch the arcane/divine divide. Afterall, the casters will be able to create their own spells however they want.

My direct vote:
Classless, levelless
But I'm open to it so long as it is very flexible.

I do.  If I want at some point after picking my starting package to up my Will save I can just pay for it.  And I don't think feats like Iron Will really cover it.  I'm willing to compromise with a level system where even after your saves and BAB have gone up by your level you can still buy an extra bonus with your points so they are at the level that you want them.
I'm a muck-levelist, I like to see things from the bottom.

Divine/arcane for the lose.
Defense and offense should scale or not scale. Too drastic of a difference is a bad thing. Vitality points, though, should scale, IMHO.

Yeah, course you could do that.

For the record, I vote we ditch the arcane/divine divide as well.

I guess one big question isn't whether we want to scale with level, but WHAT to scale and HOW to scale it.

I thought we were leaning towards a removal of levels now?  I also think there was a suggestion earlier that suggested minimum buys as characters advanced.  In this way, VP could be advanced, but they can be advanced in greater amounts if the player so wishes.
